In this article I criticize Hannah Arendt's concept of natality as unable to confront the ways in which racial capitalism links the biopolitical cultivation of natality to the necropolitical natal alienation that is structural to modern slavery. I base this argument in an understanding of social death as the production of racial capitalism, one that gives slavery an aftermath, post-abolition, which continues to dispossess Black and brown people of their capacity to begin something anew via their inclusion into juridical personhood. I conclude this article with an articulation of the political impossibility of Black and brown people to begin something anew under a polis that remains structured by racial capitalism in Ralph Ellison's phenomenological description of the invisible man's misrecognized new beginnings with the Brotherhood. Esta investigación expone cómo el tiempo, en cuanto categoría existencial, es fundamental en el marco actual de dominación y control neoliberal. Para ello, el artículo se divide en tres momentos: el primero, expone el actual neoliberalismo temporal como esa figura hegemónica con la cualidad de capturar y cancelar el futuro, y evitar toda alternativa a dicho sistema. El segundo presenta los elementos de la ontología aromática, como una forma de resistencia frente a la aceleración, la hiperindividualización y el rendimiento del (...) Homo digitalis. Finalmente, muestra cómo dicho proyecto da paso a una política a contratiempo, la cual, en la práctica, impacta y rompe la barrera de control que el sistema extiende sobre lo cotidiano con la intención de impedir que el sujeto imagine algún futuro posible fuera de la reproducción neoliberal. This paper seeks to destabilize the silent privilege given to the secured juridical-political position of the citizen as the stable site of enunciation of the problem/solution framework under which the stranger (foreigner, immigrant, refugee) is theoretically located. By means of textual, intertextual, and extratextual readings of Antigone, the paper argues that it is politically and literarily possible to (re)invent her for strangers in the twenty-first century, that is, for those symbolically produced as not-legally locatable and who resignify their ambivalent ontological (...) status between life and death as an alternative sociopolitical location of speech and action in equality with “others.”. La presente investigación expone las alternativas subjetivas que pueden acontecer en el marco del capitalismo contemporáneo desde la mirada filosófica de Byung-Chul Han. Para ello, se recurre a tres momentos: el primero, describe la actual sociedad neoliberal en el marco de la pospandemia; el segundo, trabaja el concepto de tiburón del rendimiento como una figura hegemónica en la dominación sistémica del sujeto; y, finalmente, se expone el concepto de homini cochlea como una alternativa no hegemónica de resistir a estos mecanismos (...) y dispositivos subjetivos que buscan mantener la reproducción del neoliberalismo. Toda esta reflexión sobre los modos de comprender la producción de subjetividad parte de una interpretación del pensamiento de Byung-Chul Han a la vez que se enmarca su filosofía en los debates contemporáneos frente a los modos de control del neoliberalismo, por lo que las mayorías de las directrices filosóficas, en este manuscrito, siguen su forma de comprender el mundo y el modo en que esta converge con otros pensadores. Este artículo tiene por objetivo retomar la teoría de Byung Chul Han sobre la sociedad del logro (Leistungsgesellschaft), tomando específicamente lo expuesto por él sobre el dogma de la transparencia que surge en la lógica neoliberal-digital contemporánea, para ser completado con la teoría freudiana de lo Unerkante -no reconocible-. Para esto el trabajo se divide en tres momentos: el primero tiene por objetivo exponer lo que se entiende por dogma de la transparencia y cómo se relaciona con el Homo œconomicus; (...) seguidamente, se presenta el concepto de lo Unerkante de Freud para plantear una nueva topología de lo no-reconocible en el plano subjetivo, proponiendo el concepto del ombligo de la subjetividad; y, finalmente, se expone cómo ese ombligo empalma con la teoría de Han frente a la transparencia, de modo que se puedan generar nuevas interpretaciones de lo que sería una salida a la sociedad del logro. This editorial presents some conclusions from a specific investigation on neoliberalism and academia, especially in the Latin American philosophical context.

The purpose of this paper is to show how the film Der Himmel über Berlin (Wenders, 1987) allows for a phenomenological reflection on the bonds of human beings with the world. For this purpose, we submit the hypothesis that the thinking of Byung-Chul Han—who has demonstrated a particular interest in this specific film—, functions as a philosophical lens through which such a reading may be advanced. To that end, this paper has three sections: the first section sees Damiel, one of (...) the film’s main characters, as a vehicle to describe the lightness of the world and the angst resulting from not being able to bond with the weight of existence. The second section presents Peter Falk as the main trigger that causes Damiel to decide to enter the world of mortals and live a life exiled from eternity. Finally, we present Marion, Damiel’s romantic interest, as the main motivation for Damiel to renounce being an angel, as she fulfills the role of an Eros capable of triggering in the individual the vital strength to cause the subject to enter into a bond with the world. This document presents an analysis of tolerance and recognition of the other in the text of the peace agreement signed between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia People’s Army (FARC-EP), and its implication in the success of the Agreement and the construction of a stable and lasting peace. A documentary review was conducted and the hermeneutic method was followed toanalyze philosophical texts that address the concept of tolerance and recognition of the other. Then, a dialogue was (...) established with the text of the Final Agreement. It is concluded that the final Agreement expressly emphasizes tolerance, but not recognition of the other. However, there are relevant aspects in the text of the Agreement, such as forgiveness and reconciliation, that require going beyond tolerantacts, especially when a Peace Agreement is going to be implemented to end an armed conflict that involves negative feelings that make it difficult to advance in national reconciliation. Education is a fundamental pillar in human development, and its evolution throughout history has been influenced by a variety of factors, including imaginative culture and human nature. In this study, we explore how educational methods have evolved in response to the interaction between these two aspects. We look at how human creativity, imagination, and adaptation have influenced the way we teach and learn, from early forms of knowledge transmission to more contemporary approaches focused on active student engagement and the development (...) of practical skills. Our research is based on a comprehensive review of the academic literature in the fields of education, evolutionary psychology, cultural anthropology, and imagination studies. We explore how societies have used imagination as a tool to transmit knowledge and values, as well as to foster creativity and individual expression. We also examine how adaptive aspects of human nature, such as the ability to learn collaboratively and adapt to changing environments, have influenced the way educational methods are designed. Our results show a clear evolution in educational methods over time, from approaches focused on the one-way transmission of knowledge to more interactive and participatory models that encourage exploration and discovery. We identify common patterns in the way societies have used imagination and adaptation to promote learning and socialization and discuss the implications of these findings for contemporary education. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between imaginative culture, human nature, and education. It provides a solid foundation for the design of educational methods that harness the innate creativity and adaptability of human beings and offers guidance for educators and policymakers on how to promote meaningful and lasting learning in today's world. Este escrito plantea la complejidad sistémica del concepto crisis moral aplicada en la sociedad contemporánea, especialmente en el caso latinoamericano, lo que exige un estudio interdisciplinario para abordar el asunto. Ahora bien, se alude a una complejidad sistémica de la crisis moral por cuatro aspectos. En primer lugar, porque la moral, al ser un sistema normativo basado en el deseo de una sociedad mejor, nunca se sentirá satisfecha de la sociedad en la que se enmarca, lo que provoca un permanente (...) malestar. En segundo lugar, porque una crisis moral indica que no hay un acoplamiento entre la realidad de lo que se tiene con lo que se quiere, por lo que el acoplamiento deseado supone interrelacionar diversas variables sistémicas para que pueda suceder realmente un desarrollo moral (para lo cual se seguirá, con algunas correcciones, el modelo de desarrollo moral de Kohlberg), variables que son más complejas de lo que el sistema político cree o quiere hacer creer. En tercer lugar, porque afirmar la existencia de una crisis moral y, por tanto, la necesidad de acciones tendientes a resolverla, no implica que haya consenso sobre cuál es la moral que debe aceptarse ni sobre el camino a seguir para lograr dicho fin, para empezar porque es relativamente común que los agentes acusados de ser los causantes de la actual “crisis moral de la sociedad y del derecho” en las sociedades contemporáneas suelen ser los agentes que denuncian, como free riders, la misma crisis. Y, en cuarto lugar, porque un cambio sistémico que posibilite un salto en el desarrollo moral debe ser significativamente fuerte, y las medidas que suelen enunciarse para afrontarlo, además de no ser claras, suelen ser insuficientes o ingenuas (tales como pedir la creación o el fortalecimiento de una asignatura de ética en los planes de estudio de los futuros ciudadanos en general y abogados en especial). Finalmente, se propondrá partir de este diagnóstico sistémico e interdisciplinario para potencializar las respuestas que puedan darse para enfrentar la crisis; de lo contrario, lo rechazado permanecerá. El presente escrito tiene por objetivo demostrar cómo el estado actual del capitalismo neoliberal, entendido como una fuerza productora de la subjetividad basada en el rendimiento [síntesis de la disciplina (Foucault) y el control (Deleuze y Guattari) que se cataliza con la digitalidad (Han, Berardi, Fisher, entre otros)], se centra en ejercer una colonización frente al tiempo como concepto estructural de la existencia humana para poder desplegar un sistema de dispositivos psicopolíticos que le permitan su reproducción sistémica. Para conseguir este (...) objetivo la investigación cuenta con tres momentos: el primero expone el paso del domino espacial del capitalismo fordista al neoliberalismo actual de carácter temporal desde una disincronía del tiempo. El segundo explica la desfactificación del mundo como la pérdida del vínculo humano con la realidad, lo que perturba directamente el estado de ánimo de los sujetos desde un peso cargado de nihilismo. Finalmente, se expone la psicopolítica como un concepto que parte tanto de la disincronía como de la desfactificación para posicionar un dominio sugestivo de la psique humana. (shrink)

En este ensayo se sostienen tres puntos. El primero es que el tema de las drogas merece una reflexión más allá de lo que nos dicen la sociedad telemática y los empresarios morales. En este sentido, se recuerda que en todas las culturas han existido drogas, que en ciertas culturas algunas drogas son prohibidas y que sobre dichas drogas y sus consumidores recae una doble estigmatización: adicción y (auto)destrucción. El segundo punto es nuestra propuesta concreta para reducir la violencia criminal (...) en Latinoamérica, que consiste en (i) despenalizar el consumo y el tráfico (por lo menos el menor) de drogas; (ii) eliminar la prohibición legal del consumo y el tráfico (por lo menos el menor) de drogas, salvo casos donde el consumo o el tráfico puedan afectar derechos legítimos de terceros; y (iii) suprimir la doble estigmatización que recae sobre el consumo en general y sobre los adictos en especial, lo que supone una sociedad civil más reflexiva sobre las drogas, principalmente sobre lo que hay detrás de la famosa lucha contra las drogas, etcétera. El tercer punto gira en torno a cómo las propuestas de eliminar la prohibición deben enfrentarse al discurso hegemónico de los empresarios morales, para lo cual se pone como ejemplo lo que sucedió en Colombia con la Sentencia C-221 de 1994, mediante la cual la Corte Constitucional dio un paso importante en el camino hacia la despenalización del consumo de drogas; esta Sentencia originó reacciones aireadas de los empresarios morales al punto de reformar la Constitución para mantener vivo el régimen de la prohibición. Este ensayo argumenta que el análisis conceptual inmodesto es epistémicamente inviable para seres como nosotros, porque no tenemos forma de justificar afirmaciones inmodestas acerca de la naturaleza de algo. Como argumento más adelante, las afirmaciones inmodestas no pueden ser justificadas por medios a priori o a posteriori. Si como suponen nuestras prácticas epistemológicas evaluativas tradicionales, no hay otras formas de justificar una creencia, entonces no podemos justificar afirmaciones inmodestas sobre la naturaleza de algo. El análisis conceptual inmodesto es epistemológicamente inviable, (...) entonces, porque nosotros no tenemos una forma confiable de identificar y justificar afirmaciones inmodestas sobre la naturaleza de algo. El ensayo finaliza con una evaluación de las teorías jurídicas de Scott Shapiro y Mark Greenberg desde el punto de vista de una aproximación desde el análisis modesto, por ejemplo, lo que implican nuestras prácticas conceptuales sobre la naturaleza del derecho. Sophocles's classical tragedy, Antigone, is continually reinvented, particularly in the Americas. Theater practitioners and political theorists alike revisit the story to hold states accountable for their democratic exclusions, as Antigone did in disobeying the edict of her uncle, Creon, for refusing to bury her brother, Polynices. Antigone in the Americas not only analyzes the theoretical reception of Antigone, when resituated in the Americas, but further introduces decolonial rumination as a new interpretive methodology through which to approach classical texts. Traveling between (...) modern present and ancient past, Andrés Fabián Henao Castro focuses on metics (resident aliens) and slaves, rather than citizens, making the feminist politics of burial long associated with Antigone relevant for theorizing militant forms of mourning in the global south. Grounded in settler colonial critique, black and woman of color feminisms, and queer and trans of color critique, Antigone in the Americas offers a more radical interpretation of Antigone, one relevant to subjects situated under multiple and interlocking systems of oppression. In this article, I offer a preposterous history of Antigone’s adaptations that contrasts Sophocles’ classical tragedy with Jean Anouilh’s Euromodern melodrama and Ariel Dorfman, Patricia Nieto, and Sara Uribe’s postmodern Antigones in Latin America. I offer that history to understand a significant change in sovereign power when the state takes hold of the socially dead rather than living body. Here, I argue, we need to move from the theory of biopolitics to the theory of necropolitics to further explain the role (...) that slavery and its aftermath play in the radicalization of state violence under contemporary neoliberalism. I thus contrast the ancient violence inflicted in the publicly desecrated corpse of Polyneices with the Euromodern violence that misidentifies Polyneices and the postmodern violence that instead disappears not one but many Polyneices. This explains why enforced disappearances figure so prominently among postmodern Latin American Antigones, a form of violence that I trace back to the settler colonial logic of elimination whereby settlers claim nativity to the territory by means of erasing its prior inhabitants. The purpose of this paper is to expose the function of the culture and thought of the Far East, expressed in Japanese Zen Buddhism and Chinese Chan (as well as, in general, in Chinese philosophy and culture), within the thought of Byung-Chul Han. This dimension of the Korean's work has not been sufficiently deepened in the analyses that are made of him. This error leads to mistakes such as stating that there is no emancipation proposal in Han or that his (...) work is limited to a pessimistic description of the world. Thus, the investigation that follows the bibliographic-documental research method is divided into three moments; the first exposes the foundations of the philosophy of Zen-chan Buddhism developed by Han; the second delineates the ontology of Hanian falsification and; the third, analyzes the theses on the East within Han's theoretical project. This article explores the relationship between theory and praxis by contrasting three different models of intellectual endeavor: totalizing, particular and decolonial. Attending to the critique that Gayatri Spivak raised against Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze in Can the Subaltern Speak?, this article advocates a dramaturgical reading of texts as a model for political theory to address subaltern agency. It reads such agency in the smile that Pier Paolo Pasolini registers in his 1967 film version of Sophocles’ play, Oedipus Tyrannos. Dramaturgically (...) read, Oedipus reveals another text, the tragic history of a yet insufficiently explored democratic alternative that goes against the established democracy and its complicity with inequality in the continued naturalization of slavery despite its foundation in equality. This subtext demands understanding Oedipus as a political production from the speechless agency of dissident servants, a more subversive aspect of democratic politics. (shrink)

Este artículo representa el primer paso para demostrar que la akrasia[1] proporciona la característica estructural subyacente en los juicios de culpabilidad o responsabilidad ética y jurídica por actos negligentes; el trabajo explica el fenómeno de la akrasia y compara las concepciones clásicas y contemporáneas de este fenómeno. Argumentamos que actuamos inadvertidamente porque actuamos acráticamente, lo que se explica en términos de un compromiso defectuoso específico del razonamiento práctico por parte del agente ejecutor, es decir, una falta de integración entre el (...) carácter y el pensamiento que debe entenderse como una falla para habitar la perspectiva deliberativa-aspiracional. La segunda aplica el el proceso anterior pero a las obras de Jean Rousseau Contrato Social y Discurso sobre el origen de la desigualdad entre los hombres. La tercera establece que las concepciones sobre la justicia, tanto las del escocés como las del (...) ginebrino, poseen contextos y sentidos distintos pero que, en realidad, son posturas que tienen algunas similitudes en lo que respecta al fundamento de la propiedad. This article will present how Systemics and Cybernetics might prove useful for law in advancing a Systemic-Cybernetic Theory of Law (TSCD). With TSCD it will be possible for legal scholars to solve several jurisprudential problems and also elaborate a new and more comprehensive approach to law than the ones currently available. In order to achieve this goal, it will be argued how systemic-cybernetic methodology and epistemology have come into play in the law, and which kind of features are included in (...) the theory, and also it will be added where new answers are offered.The authors hope TSCD to be considered as a paradigm helpful for facing the challenges and crisis that in their practical operation and philosophical and scientific research are being put forward by different systems of law (national, international, transnational, etcetera).Resumen:En el presente texto se presentará al lector cómo la sistémica y la cibernética sirven al derecho para estructurar así una Teoría Sistémico-Cibernética del Derecho (TSCD). Mediante ésta se podrá dar respuesta a diversos interrogantes iusfilosóficos, obteniendo una visión del derecho más completa de las que hasta ahora se nos ha ofrecido. Para lograr tal cometido, se expondrá la manera cómo la metodología y la epistemología sistémica y cibernética irrumpen en el mundo jurídico, para luego enumerar algunas características de una posible TSCD y los problemas a los que esta visión del derecho ofrece algo nuevo.La TSCD constituirá —así lo esperamos— el paradigma que la complejidad de los temas y sistemas del derecho (nacionales, internacionales, trasnacionales, etcétera) requiere para hacer frente a la crisis de su funcionamiento práctico y de su investigación científica y filosófica. ¿Qué es leer? ¿Qué es escribir? ¿Qué ocurre cuando se lee o cuando se escribe? ¿Qué tipo de relación se entreteje entre el texto y quien lo lee o escribe? ¿Qué tipo de efectos se derivan de allí? El acento de este tipo de preguntas pretende poner el foco de inquietud en el sujeto que lee y escribe. Con este propósito se emplean las nociones foucaultianas de ética, experiencia y cuidado de sí (epimeleia heaotou) para interrogar desde allí tanto el (...) leer como el escribir. Pensar la lectura y la escritura desde la perspectiva metodológica de la producción de sí, deriva en una ética de la palabra y en el ejercicio de la escritura de sí, las cuales permiten, a su vez, aportar ángulos de interpelación, tanto a las prácticas de enseñanza, como a la formación y la investigación. Palabras clave: cuidado de sí, leer, escribir, ética de la palabra, experiencia Ética da palavra. Leitura, escrita e produção de si. Resumo: O que é ler? O que é escrever? O que ocorre quando se lê ou quando se escreve? Que tipo de relação se entretece entre o texto e quem o lê ou o escreve? Que tipos de efeitos são daí derivados? Taken as a philosophical issue, the idea of representation implies the prior assumption of a difference between reality and its “doubles.” Things are paired with images, concepts, or symbols, acts with rules and norms, events with structures. Traditionally, the problem with representations has been their “accuracy,” the degree of fit between reality and its reproductions in the mind. When philosophers lost the hope of ever determining accuracy , they found consolation in the test of usefulness: a good representation is one (...) that works. The proof of its working is that it enables us to act on the world together.1 In such a frame, science, including anthropology, is conceived as the pursuit of privileged representations, privileged in that, by their nature of by their combination, they establish knowledge of a special kind. In the case of anthropology, “culture” has served as a sort of umbrella concept for representations. The strcuturalists have been most explicit about the need to think of representation in the plural, but their position is shared, in varying degrees, by all those who conceive of knowledge as the selection and combination of signs in systems, patterns, or structures, in short, as some kind of conceptual order ruling perceptual chaos. 1. Remember the connection between the Kantian quest for synthetic forms and Émile Durkheim’s idea of collective representations sustained by the moral authority of a society. Durkheim certainly was one to look for the “ethic” in the “ethnic” primitive, and it makes me wonder whether Stephen A. Tyler’s characterization of postmodern ethnography as a return to “an earlier and more powerful notion of the ethical character of all discourse, as captured in the ancient significance of the family of terms ‘ethos,’ ‘ethnos,’ ‘ethics’” might not signal a return to the Durkheimian fold . Uno de los problemas centrales que el filósofo francés Bernard Stiegler ha abordado para sostener una constitución tecno- lógica de la humanidad, es la cuestión del origen del hombre. El asunto recae en preguntarse si es posible pensar quién es el hombre desde esta tesis, sin volver a la metafísica o la filosofía trascendental. Esta posición ha de estar enraizada en una ontología que aprehenda el componente causal a nivel relacional, dejando de lado las explicaciones en las cuales la causa (...) es substancialista. Para dar desarrollo a esta propuesta, este artículo se compone de dos partes generales: la primera está destinada a presentar hasta dónde sigue y en dónde se separa Stiegler de la concepción zoo-antropológica de André Leroi-Gourhan sobre el origen del hombre; para luego explicar las bases epistemológicas y ontológicas sobre las que Stiegler erige sus tesis tecno-ontológica de la humanidad; a saber: los fundamentos de la transducción simondoniana y la diferancia derridiana. En la filosofía de Aristóteles, enérgeia aparece como fundamento de mimesis, analogía y semejanza. Desde este ángulo es posible apreciar una suerte de corriente continua que permite superar la escisión radical entre ciencias prácticas, factivas y teóricas. Superada la escisión cabe visualizar el vínculo de unión entre la existencia humana y la divina. Esto no puede darse mediante una "nivelación desde abajo", como ocurre con la antropomorfización. En cambio, esa aspiración que cada ser manifiesta por aproximarse, en la medida de (...) lo posible, a lo que 'es', en su perfección última y acabada, tiene la vida propia de la divinidad por expresión arquetípica. Aristóteles intenta un nuevo rumbo para explicar la relación entre el hombre y Dios. El ser es aquello que la mente ama, y el ser es para todos objeto de amor. En la substancia primera, ser y mente (Noús) se identifican, haciendo de Dios un ser nobilísimo y continuamente amado por el universo. El amor humano, el gozo de pensar que pensamos y que estamos vivos, nos permite contemplar al Primer Principio. Su separación, por tanto, no es una mera abstracción, sino la distancia reverente que impone la belleza, perfección y bondad, de la única substancia que es pensamiento de pensamiento y vida. Los entes, por su parte, participan (koinonei) (cf. Met. 1075 a, 24-25) todos para el todo. Se trata, pues, de una afirmación que nos remite indirectamente a Platón y la idea de methexis. El hombre, al poseer un lugar privilegiado en la naturaleza, está llamado a contemplar incluso aquellas cosas que parecieran estar sobre su capacidad (hyperanthropon) y, para lograrlo, debe esforzarse por hacerse semejante (homóioma) a lo divino, en lo que respecta a su actividad. Sólo en el desarrollo permanente de la virtud, considerada como enérgeia, puede llegar a ser el más amado por los dioses ( cf. E.N. 11 79 a,25-30). (shrink)

El presente artículo examina las diferentes teorías del contenido mental de Dretske y su relación con sus consideraciones epistemológicas para concluir que el hecho de conceptualizar o albergar un determinado contenido es ya un tipo de conocimiento, a saber, conocimiento animal. A continuación el autor discute dicho enfoque sosteniendo, a diferencia de Dretske, que mantener la dicotomía entre conocimiento animal y conocimiento reflexivo resulta virtuosa pues mantiene tanto aquello que puede ser naturalizado apelando a la Historia natural como da razón (...) de las practicas justificatorias que intervienen en el denominado conocimiento reflexivo y que a su juicio es irrenunciable e irreductible. A partir de un estudio longitudinal sobre cultura política en chilenos, discutimos la paradojal evidencia encontrada en la literatura que plantea que, por un lado, las actitudes políticas más pro-democráticas y anti-autoritarias se observarían en sectores sociales acomodados y, por otro lado, las actitudes más pro-conservadoras y anti-igualitaristas se observarían en grupos sociales dominantes. Nuestros datos muestran que el patrón de actitudes políticas (autoritarismo, apoyo a la democracia, conservadurismo y nacionalismo) es similar entre personas de derecha de estrato alto, izquierda (...) de estrato bajo, y centro de estrato medio. En cambio, quienes manifiestan una orientación política incongruente con su condición socioeconómica presentan actitudes políticas diferenciadas del patrón predominante. Concluimos que la paradoja puede resolverse explicando el patrón de actitudes políticas de un grupo en función del (des)ajuste de la orientación política a sus condiciones socioeconómicas. (shrink)

Uno de los conceptos básicos de la filosofía práctica es el de persona. Sin este concepto no se dejan pensar coherentemente cuestiones esenciales de la política, la ética, el derecho y la moral. La complejidad de la existencia humana –la cual se “resume” en que nunca se es solamente sujeto de derecho, ciudadano o heredero de una determinada tradición cultural– implica el riesgo del reduccionismo, es decir, de la explicación de lo que significa llevar la vida de una persona desde (...) sólo una perspectiva de la existencia humana. Luego de presentar algunas de las estaciones centrales de la prehistoria y la historia del concepto de persona, el artículo ofrece algunos elementos que podrían servir para formular un concepto no reduccionista de la persona en el ámbito específico de la filosofía de la justicia social. In this paper I defend the idea that there is a sense in which it is meaningful and useful to talk about objective understanding, and that to characterize that notion it is necessary to formulate an account of explanation that makes reference to the beliefs and epistemic goals of the participants in a cognitive enterprise. Using the framework for belief revision developed by Isaac Levi, I analyze the conditions that information must fulfill to be both potentially explanatory and epistemically valuable (...) to an inquiring agent and to a scientific community. To be potentially explanatory, the information must state the relations of probabilistic relevance that the explanans bares to the explanandum. But a potential explanation con only be a bona fide explanation if it becomes part of inquiry, that is, if an agent or a group of agents can see any value in it for their cognitive purposes. I provide a way to evaluate the epistemic value of a potential explanation as a function of its credibility and its informational content. (shrink)

This article intends to analyse the Hobbesian version of the Christian dogma of the Trinity as it is observed in the corresponding sections of Leviathan , De Cive and Heresy , and alluded to in other texts (controversy with Bramhall). It shall be important to specify: (a) As a starting point, the exact place of such concept within the general problem expressed by the difference between "political theology" and "theologico-political problem" (C. Altini); (b) The main items of the philosopher's Trinitarian (...) exposition as well as his intention while writing it, according to the "secularist", "theistic" and "Divine Omnipotence" interpretations.
